Today's Benji photos - a comparison

Five months ago - this stuffed pillow look-alike arrived in my life, weighing more than double his recommended healthy weight.

Today, he is slimmer and much of his fat has been replaced by muscle; still some way to go but he is very much livelier and energetic.
He is also very stubborn and no amount of calling his name, clucking, whistling, whining or whispering would persuade him to lift his head and smile for the camera!

Plodding along in a sedate fashion, back in May 2017.

Yesterday, looking for his doggy mates up on the Moor - note the bigger clearance between belly and ground!

 Happy boy, loving his walks.

Flying along, ears flapping and a big grin on his face.
Apologies for the out-of-focus photo - he was really racing along.

  4. That is now a dog rather than a rocking horse! He was a lovely dog when I met him and he looks so happy. Well done both of you!

    1. You would see a real difference in him since we met up. I bet he'd still manage to get in the way of your trundle truck though!!! No traffic sense at all.

  6. He looks 100% better - a credit to you. He looks such a happy little fella! I've never met a bichon - i'd love to give his fur a ruffle - bet it' s as soft as silk - preferably prior to him having a roll in something smelly though!!

    1. After I've shampoo'ed him,it's tightly curled. Then I blow-dry him and brush with a wire brush, and his fur goes all soft and fluffy. Until the next time he either rolls in something disgusting or crawls under a car to get at something food-related!

  7. Very well done with the weight loss and strengthening - we have a cat who is overweight and it's very hard to listen to her meow for food but you have inspired me to try even harder. Indoor cats are prone to overweight as they don't naturally move around as much. I've tried to get our girl to walk around behind me when I have her food bowl ready but after a couple of days of that she just looked at me and keeled over with a grunting sound to lie on the floor ...

    1. I have to harden my heart against those pleading eyes and refrain from giving him any titbits. He has a measured amount of food for breakfast and dinner, with just one Dental chew in between.
Once a week, when I go with friends for a lunch at the pub, he is given a few biscuits - he quickly learned that they would be coming his way and looks expectantly at the waiter when he comes for our order. His weekly treat!!!

    1. They say 'the camera doesn't lie', don't they? The photos from April and September show the difference in him.

  11. Yebbut - if I had someone measuring my food and denying me any treats, I would also lose unwanted weight!!! Even the regular exercise isn't doing anything for MY waistline.

  13. Astonishing to see the difference you have made to his life in such a short space of time. Perhaps it is YOU who should be having the treats :-)
