Godrevy and the seals

Don't faint!  Two posts within an hour - but actually this was part of the same holiday.
Godrevy wasn't far away and that lighthouse was in my sights and calling my name, so off we went for another sunny, hot afternoon.  Lovely walks along the cliff path, an ice cream to share and other dogs to meet and greet. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

This was the image that encouraged me to buy a cornet, which we both enjoyed. Mmmmm . .

  1. Seals are such interesting and extraordinary creatures, arent they!
I have just read through your getaway post, what a lovely place you found, better than a tent! But next time, do ring and we will meet up with you.

    1. It was the first time I'd seen the seals like that, sleeping on the beach. But the tide was coming in and it was funny to see one big seal determinedly trying to stay on her rock while the incoming waves continually rolled her around, eventually dislodging her.
I don't have your number, Elizabeth; could you please message me on Facebook? Next time I'm down that way I'd love to meet up again with you and Malcolm. x

  2. I love to see the seals when they come ashore near here to have their pups. It's a privilege to see such lovely creatures close up.

    1. It was wonderful, Mary - I was holding my breath and hoping they wouldn't be disturbed while I was there (not everyone took heed of the notice asking people to be quiet) but they didn't seem at all bothered by a rather noisy family.

    1. There are quite a few to choose from around our Cornish coast, including the ones where you can visit and explore.
I am extremely jealous of you, having just read your latest post! I am in dognapping mode. Very best wishes for your shiny new blog; I'm really looking forward to reading more (especially about that gorgeous Border Collie pup!)

    1. Thank you, Sue. Luckily the visit to Godrevy was before my camera refused to work, or there would have been no photos.

    1. Glad you enjoyed it - it was so wonderful to be able to spy on the seals as they relaxed on the beach.

  6. Such a beautiful region. Did Benji show any interest in the seals? Amazing to see so many lounging around.

  7. Benji couldn't see them because the path we stood on was below the level of the clifftop and I had to lean over the fence to look way down to the beach below. The camera zoom lens made it look a lot closer but the seals were well out of reach.

  9. Oh wow, those pictures are stunning! I remember how excited I was when I saw my first seal in Cornwall many years ago. I live in the mountains and they are beautiful of course but the sea is also so so captivating isn't it. Anna
