How to Relax after Gardening Duties.

It had been a cool day, overcast and grey, so I succumbed to the housework; washed and tumble-dried the bedding and towels, vacuumed right through (so easy with a bungalow!), dusted and tidied the kitchen before making a pot of tea and picking up my book.
But I couldn't settle; the lawns needed cutting again and maybe it would rain tomorrow . . .
Then, at almost 4pm, the lawns were cut, the sun came out and I made a spur of the moment decision:
BEACH!!!

So that's where Zac and I went and enjoyed a lovely gentle stroll along a deserted beach, followed by a cappuccino (for me) and a doggy chewstick (for him) at the Beach Cafe.

I'm always intrigued by steps that disappear to an unseen place . . .

Looking back towards Seaton holiday flats and 'Waves' restaurant and to the right, the hillside houses of Downderry.

  1. Lovely photos Rosie:) I'm glad you were able to get away from the chores to enjoy a lovely beach walk. If Zac is anything like our girls he'll go nuts for the sea and sand! Lucy and Whiskers just love the beach. We'll be taking them this weekend so I'll share those photos soon x

    1. Zac has always enjoyed the sea, although he doesn't go out of his depth these days. I look forward to seeing your beach photos with your dogs.

    1. The heat had gone out of the day, but it was just nice and comfortable for myself and Zac - with the added bonus of a deserted beach.

  3. What a busy day you had! But I'm so glad you and Zac had a stroll on the beach at the end. I, too, love steps that are mysterious.

  4. Rosie, I've just had a catch up on these two most recent posts of yours, and really enjoyed how you gave me an idea of the holiday with those adorable grandchildren, and then how that day of housekeeping and garden work received a beach reward in the afternoon. What a spectacularly beautiful place you live in.

I would also be intrigued by those overgrown winding steps. To have all that open sky and a beach without end of summer crowds seems miraculous. What fun for you and Zac to explore. Thanks so much for the wonderful photographs! xo
