So . . . . here we go

Yesterday I arranged to meet up with another Cornish Blogger and while we were enjoying the gardens (and coffee & cake) of Pencarrow House, she persuaded me to start my own blog.  So after being a 'reader of blogs' for many a year, here I am.

My very first Blog; my very first post - what to write?
I suspect my choice of title will be particularly apt; I shall ramble from one subject to another and then another.
First of all, a photo of the person who brought me here: Elizabeth's blog can be found here http://frenchvillagelife.blogspot.co.uk/

Admiring the Azaleas and Rhododendrons at Pencarrow

Today, I was much closer to home, walking on Bodmin Moor with my dog, Zac; he's a 12 and half year old Border Collie who has some health issues but still enjoys his walks, especially if they involve water, when he will happily plunge in to the filthiest deep puddle or crystal clear  moorland stream to cool off.  But don't expect him to go outside when there's a suspicion of rain; the tiniest drop will send him scurrying back inside.

On a totally different note - I read in our local paper that a former Bomb Shelter situated on Downderry Beach has just sold at auction for £14,000!!! It measures 13 meters x 3 meters and comes with its own parking space.  If the fierce storms and coastal erosion that we experienced last year are repeated, it might well not be the safest place to leave a car! I shall watch with interest as Downderry to Seaton beach is another favourite walk when the tide is favourable.

I have photos of my garden lined up for my next post, all being well. I do love my garden!

  1. Ooops! I am told that people are having problems in posting. I just knew it wouldn't be straight-forward!

  2. Hooray! Well done and congratulations on your first post. It is a bit of a learning curve at first but you seem to have mastered it!
Whatever would one do with a bomb shelter?

    1. Oh dear; I'm completely confuddled now, having read all those links - and lots of other links which followed on. Simply, in very simple terms for this non-technical lady, is there something I need to do so that readers can leave comments, because apart from my friends, I really can't contact everyone to ask them to allow cookies (or anything else necessary.) And would it be too much to ask if I could place a "Follow" button on my blog?

  5. Congrats on starting your new blog, which I found via Cornish Cream. I too am a new blogger so am afraid I can't really offer any advice (I'm totally non-techie too!). We know the Bodmin area quite well, as we have relatives living there, so I look forward to reading more of your rambling posts.

    1. Welcome to you, Sooze. I'm relieved that you are able to leave a comment; maybe I fiddled around with the Settings enough to allow them! I'm a few miles from Bodmin itself but if you've walked on the Moor, you might recognise a few of the places in my future photographs.

  7. Nice pictures and a good read (it's like a friendly natter). Your garden is going to be stunning at the height of summer. As for the strawberries, I think, with grand children, you'll be lucky to see a ripe one !

    1. Welcome aboard, Martin and thank you for your comment. My first attempt at having strawberries went well as far as growing them, but the birds picked them off as they ripened (and the blueberries!) The following year, my toddler granddaughter found them; the following year, they were in one of those plastic greenhouse things - which was blown across the garden one stormy night. Last year I did manage a few delicious breakfasts before I had the grandchildren over for the day . . .
