That was a delphinium which was eaten down to a stalk and 1 leaf by a slug before it even got out of the pot, but I stood it on the patio table (out of reach of marauding slugs) and it eventually grew more leaves and now a pretty little flower. As for the garden, close-ups are a wonderful thing when the rest of the garden is bashed and battered. My roses were ruined as were many of the taller plants - delphiniums, hollyhocks, even the ox-eye daisies which are usually so resilient. That poor old sheep - not so much a bad haircut as a mite that burrows under the skin and the wood falls out. Saves shearing though.
